Villeurbanne authorities pledge intensified fight against drug trafficking
Rhône Prefect Étienne Guyot has reaffirmed that security is the “number one priority” during a visit to the Grandclément neighborhood in Villeurbanne. The visit aimed to review state actions and demonstrate commitment to fighting drug trafficking following violence earlier this summer.
Guyot emphasized that the state is engaged in a long-term effort and will not relent in its operations. Villeurbanne Mayor Cédric Van Styvendael called for increased cooperation between the state and local authorities to combat organized crime networks, noting that the Grandclément area has frequently been the site of shootings related to narcotics trafficking.
