Villonaco III wind project equipment transport begins in Ecuador
The transport of heavy and oversized components for the Villonaco III wind project has officially commenced in Ecuador. The mobilization process, which began in the second week of October, involves moving equipment from Puerto Bolívar through the interprovincial road network toward rural parishes in the Loja canton.
The logistics operation includes the transport of support structures and the complex's electrical transformer via Route 1. Due to the difficult topography and sharp curves on Route 3, which connects the Villonaco junction to the Chuquiribamba parish, civil engineering works are being conducted to widen certain sections.
According to Villonaco Energy, the transport schedule is expected to continue through late January or early February 2027, at which point the assembly of the wind turbines will begin. Wind turbine blades are currently being held at the port terminal and will be dispatched once engineering works on the most winding road segments are completed.
