Villupuram bus-truck collision kills one passenger in Tamil Nadu
A fatal collision occurred near Tindivanam in the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu when a Mettur Travels bus collided with a truck on the Trichy-Chennai National Highway. The bus was carrying 38 passengers from Pollachi to Chennai.
The accident happened near the Kannikapuram bus stop when the truck ahead of the bus made a sudden right turn. The bus driver was unable to stop in time, causing the bus to strike the side of the truck. Guard rods from the truck pierced the front of the bus, killing a passenger identified as Nandkumar, a resident of Tiruppur, at the scene.
The truck involved in the collision fled the area immediately. The sudden braking by two other trucks following the bus caused them to lose balance and overturn on the highway. The incident resulted in a traffic jam lasting over two kilometers. Several passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment.
