Vilmorus market research firm files for bankruptcy in Lithuania

Vilmorus, a prominent Lithuanian market research and public opinion polling company, has filed for bankruptcy. The Vilnius District Court initiated the bankruptcy proceedings last week following a request from the company’s director, Vladimiras Gaidys.

Founded in 1993, Vilmorus has operated for 33 years and is widely recognized for conducting regular public opinion polls, including long-term projects for 'Lietuvos ryto' regarding political party popularity and public trust in institutions.

The company’s financial decline was driven by decreasing revenues and rising costs, which eventually made it impossible to cover operating expenses or generate profit. Financial data indicates a significant gap between assets and liabilities; as of March 31, 2026, the company held assets valued at 4,091 euros against liabilities totaling nearly 107,000 euros.

Recent reports show that the company's net loss increased by 10.8 percent last year to 31.9 thousand euros, while revenue fell by 2.7 percent to 227.2 thousand euros. The company's ownership includes the Finnish firm Taloustutkimus (45 percent), Vladimiras Gaidys (32.9 percent), and Danutė Tureikytė (22.1 percent).
