Vilnius aims to complete major road repairs by September
Vilnius officials are working to complete several major road and infrastructure repair projects before the start of the new school year in September. Mayor Valdas Benkunskas stated that the city is prioritizing the completion of works on main streets to mitigate the increased traffic intensity that typically occurs in early autumn as students and residents return from holidays.
To date, approximately 20 km of road repairs have been completed in the capital, including sections of Subačiaus, Žaliųjų Ežerų, Kirtimų, M. K. Paco, and Laisvės prospektas. Currently, work continues on an additional 14 km of road sections.
By September 1, the city aims to finish driving surface installations on several key routes, including Geležinio Vilko, Kalvarijų, P. Lukšio, Kareivių, Šilo, Bieliūnų, S. Batoro, A. Goštauto, L. Sapiegos, Lentvario, and Laisvės prospektas. The ongoing projects involve road reconstruction, capital repairs, and the updating of surface sewage networks.
