Vilnius hosts public Mexican Día de Muertos celebration
Vilnius will host a public celebration of the Mexican Day of the Dead, known as Día de Muertos, on October 31. The event aims to introduce residents and visitors to Mexican culture through music, dance, and shared remembrance.
The program features a Catrina procession starting at 16:00 from Cathedral Square and moving to the courtyard of the National Museum of Lithuania’s House of Histories at T. Kosciuškos Street 3. The main festivities are scheduled to begin at 17:00. While participants are welcome to wear costumes inspired by Mexican traditions, it is not a requirement for attendance.
The event is free and open to the public, with organizers specifically encouraging families and those unfamiliar with the tradition to participate.
