Vilnius road safety protest features 300 women

In Vilnius, approximately 300 women participated in a symbolic road safety protest as part of the tenth anniversary of the 'Minam100' charity cycling event. To highlight the vulnerability of cyclists and pedestrians, participants briefly halted traffic and lay on the asphalt next to their bicycles.

The action, titled ‘1 minute for safety’, aimed to demonstrate how a moment of driver inattention can lead to severe consequences or death. Following the symbolic minute, participants completed a 100-kilometer ride from Valakampiai toward Nemenčinė and Buivydžiai. Organizer Loreta Šlėguvienė noted that the number of participants serves as a visual comparison to the hundreds of cyclists who suffer accidents on Lithuanian roads annually.
