Vilnius Tech scientists develop adaptive office technology to combat burnout

Scientists at Vilnius Tech have developed an innovative system called AFFECTS (Smart, Sensory, Self-learning and Adaptive Buildings) designed to combat workplace burnout. The technology aims to transform static office environments into dynamic ecosystems that adapt to an employee's emotional and physiological state in real time.

Led by Professor Artūras Kaklauskas, the system monitors indicators such as emotional, affective, and physiological states. Based on this data, the environment automatically adjusts elements including lighting, scents, air quality (CO2 levels), temperature, humidity, and even music or information delivery to reduce stress and anxiety.
