Vilnius to host ninth Hack4Vilnius hackathon for urban innovation

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH), in collaboration with Saulėtekis Tech Park, is organizing the ninth annual Hack4Vilnius hackathon from October 9–11. The event invites technology enthusiasts, creators, and innovators to develop solutions for real-world challenges faced by the capital city and its businesses.

Participants will compete for a prize fund of 3,500 euros. The challenges for this year's event have been provided by various local organizations and companies, including JUDU, Go Vilnius, Vilniaus vandenys, VASA, If, and Ignitis grupė. These challenges aim to help Vilnius become a healthier, cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable city in terms of mobility.

Since its inception in 2018, the hackathon has attracted over 1,000 participants. Last year, 110 participants formed 28 teams, with the top prize going to 'ecoBuddy' for an AI-based mobile app prototype designed to assist with waste sorting.
