Vilpas heads to Bulgaria for Champions League qualifiers

The basketball team Vilpas is traveling to Sofia, Bulgaria, to compete in the Champions League qualifiers held in Samokov. Their opening match on Wednesday will be against the seven-time Slovakian champions, Patrioti Levice.

Levice has recently strengthened its roster by signing British national team player Jelani Watson-Gaylen. The Slovakian side enters the qualifiers with a recent record of two wins and four losses in preparatory games.

In the Champions League qualifying format, a single loss results in elimination. To advance to the group stage, teams must secure three victories. If Vilpas defeats Levice, they will face the winner of the match between Bakken Bears and Landstede Hammers in the semifinals. The winner of the final on Sunday will qualify for the Champions League group stage.
