Bihar Municipal Council Executive Officer Vimal Kumar Murdered Near Aurangabad

Vimal Kumar, the executive officer of the Dehri‑Dalmianagar Municipal Council in Bihar, was found injured near the Dhanauti Bridge in the Barun police‑station area of Aurangabad district on the night of 2 August 2026. He was travelling from Dehri to Patna when unknown assailants intercepted his vehicle, beat him with sticks and a metal rod, and allegedly fired at him. He was taken to Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Jamuhar, where doctors declared him dead.

Rohtas District Magistrate Deepak Kumar Mishra said the incident was reported at about 22:30 hrs, an inquest and medical board were convened, and a post‑mortem is pending. Police have detained the driver, identified as Mithilesh Kumar, for questioning and are conducting a joint investigation by Aurangabad and Rohtas police. No motive has been established, and officials have pledged “the strictest possible action” against those responsible. The victim’s family and local community are in mourning, and the case has heightened tension in the region.
