Vimmerby Hockey defeats IK Oskarshamn 2-1 in preseason opener

Vimmerby Hockey secured a 2-1 overtime victory against IK Oskarshamn in their first preseason match of the season. Oskar Lindgren opened the scoring for Vimmerby, while Hugo Lejon netted the decisive overtime goal.

Goaltender Isak Sörqvist, a 19-year-old on loan from Luleå, delivered a strong debut by saving 30 of 31 shots, maintaining a save percentage of nearly 97 percent. Despite the win, Vimmerby coach Eric Karlsson noted that while the defensive structure was solid, the team's offensive puck movement requires significant improvement.

Sörqvist is expected to be succeeded in the starting role by Tomas Rydén for the upcoming match against Kalmar on Friday.
