Vimmerby opinion poll shows Socialdemokraterna gains

A unique opinion poll conducted by Novus for Dagens Vimmerby reveals significant shifts in the political landscape of Vimmerby ahead of the municipal elections. The Socialdemokraterna emerge as the largest winners, projected to receive 30.4 percent of the vote, an increase of nearly four percentage points compared to the 2022 election.

In contrast, the Moderaterna, led by opposition council Niklas Gustafsson, show a marginal decline, projected at 19.8 percent, nearly identical to their 19.9 percent result in the previous election. Other notable shifts include the Sverigedemokraterna seeing gains, while coalition partners of the Socialdemokraterna, such as Centerpartiet and Vänsterpartiet, are expected to lose support. Miljöpartiet is projected to retain a seat in the municipal council with 2.4 percent of the vote.

The survey, conducted between July 21 and August 10 among residents over 18, represents the first professional opinion poll conducted at the municipal level in Vimmerby.
