Vimpex Group to acquire Nestlé's Diósgyőr confectionery factory

Nestlé Hungária has reached an agreement to sell its confectionery factory in Diósgyőr to the Vimpex Group. The sale prevents the total closure of the facility, which Nestlé had previously announced for late 2026 due to declining demand for hollow chocolate figures.

The ownership transfer is scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027. Under the terms of the agreement, Vimpex commits to retaining at least one-third of the factory's current workforce.

For employees who will not continue with the new owner, Nestlé is providing support including job placement assistance and severance packages that exceed statutory requirements. Additionally, workers who remain with Nestlé until the end of the year will receive extraordinary bonuses ranging from 5 to 11.5 months of base salary, depending on their length of service.

Despite the sale, Nestlé Hungária stated that its long-term plans for Hungary remain unchanged, with continued investments and development planned for its facilities in Szerencs and Büki.
