Vin Diesel hints at directing Fast Forever franchise finale

Vin Diesel has fueled speculation regarding a potential directorial role for the upcoming franchise finale, ‘Fast Forever’. In a cryptic Instagram post featuring a black-and-white photo of his 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, Diesel captioned the image “Director… Hmmm…,” suggesting he may take the helm for the concluding chapter of the saga.

While Universal Pictures has not officially confirmed a change in leadership, the post follows comments from director Louis Leterrier, who recently noted he had not yet read the screenplay for the film. Diesel, who has previously directed projects such as ‘Strays’ and the franchise-related short ‘Los Bandoleros’, has praised the current script written by Mike Lesslie, calling it “the best script I have read in decades.”

Production for ‘Fast Forever’ is expected to begin in December 2026, with a scheduled theatrical release date of March 17, 2028.
