Vinaròs coastline sees updated maritime-terrestrial public domain limits

The Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has approved a new maritime-terrestrial public domain line for the Vinaròs coastline. This update affects a strip of more than 2,200 meters between Playa de los Cossis and the Aiguaoliva ravine, extending to the border with Benicarló.

The new demarcation is divided into five main sectors. Key changes include the repositioning of the limit at Playa de los Cossis, the expansion of protection for the Servol River mouth to 400 meters upstream, and the incorporation of sandy lands and material deposits up to the promenade line at Fortí and Fora Forat beaches.

These modifications mean that private plots affected by the new line will transition to state ownership. Affected owners may contest the decision, but will generally lose land ownership in exchange for temporary use concessions, typically lasting 30 to 75 years. The new boundaries also impose stricter regulations on construction, including prohibitions on new buildings or expansions and increased restrictions on renovation permits.
