Vinaròs to launch SASEM mental health support service

The Vinaròs City Council has secured funding to launch a new municipal service aimed at providing care and support for individuals with serious mental health issues and their families. Through a decree issued on October 1, 2026, the council has integrated SASEM (Service for Attention and Follow-up for People with Serious Mental Health Problems) into its program contract with the Generalitat Valenciana.

SASEM is a free public service designed to promote autonomy, well-being, and social integration for those affected. The service focuses on personalized, close-range care, where professionals accompany individuals in their daily lives to help overcome challenges and facilitate social participation. The program will also provide guidance and support to families.

To implement this service, the council plans to hire two specialized professionals—one psychologist and one social worker—who will work together to provide tailored care. While the Generalitat Valenciana will fund the personnel, the Vinaròs City Council will provide the necessary resources for the service to begin operations, which is scheduled for 2027.
