Vincent Gross warns fans of AI-generated death hoax

Swiss singer Vincent Gross has issued a warning to his followers regarding fraudulent AI-generated videos claiming he has died from colon cancer. The 29-year-old musician discovered an eleven-minute YouTube clip that has been circulating for approximately six months, which uses artificial intelligence to simulate a news report about his terminal illness.

Gross explained on Instagram that these videos are part of a calculated scam designed to generate advertising revenue through clicks. The deceptive content includes fabricated details, such as attributing incorrect songs to him and involving other public figures like Beatrice Egli and Günther Jauch.

Expressing indignation, Gross called on YouTube to implement better automated tools to filter out such fake news and AI-generated misinformation. He reassured his fans that he is “well and perfectly healthy.”
