Vincent Iwuchukwu granted additional NCAA season by judge

A judge has ruled that basketball prospect Vincent Iwuchukwu is permitted to compete for another NCAA season. The decision follows a legal challenge regarding the organization’s recent changes to eligibility rules.

In June, the NCAA replaced its “four seasons in five years” rule with an age-based model allowing athletes unlimited seasons within a five-year window. However, the NCAA initially declined to apply this new rule to Iwuchukwu’s 2022 high school graduating class.

Iwuchukwu, a 7’1 forward, faced significant medical hurdles after suffering a sudden heart attack during a practice at USC in July 2022. Following his recovery and subsequent surgeries for back issues, he played for St. John’s and most recently for Georgetown, where he averaged 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
