Vincent Mwana Mulenda, Haut-Katanga Court President, killed in armed attack

Vincent Mwana Mulenda, the President of the Haut-Katanga Court of Appeal, has died following an armed attack at his residence in Lubumbashi. The incident occurred during the night between Sunday and Monday when armed men scaled the walls of his property and forced entry into the home.

According to reports, the assailants demanded money and vehicle keys. During the confrontation, Mulenda sustained severe gunshot wounds to his head and leg. His daughter, who was present during the attack, was also injured. Although he was initially rushed to the Don Bosco clinic for emergency treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries at another hospital.

Guillaume Ngefa Atondoko-Andali, the Minister of Justice, expressed deep consternation over the death and announced that an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances and responsibilities. The attack has heightened concerns regarding rising insecurity and armed banditry in the Lubumbashi region.
