Vincent van Gogh and the legacy of the Yellow House

Vincent van Gogh’s famous ‘Yellow House’ in Arles, located at Place Lamartine, served as a pivotal space in the artist's life. After renting the property in May 1888, Van Gogh envisioned it as the ‘studio of the South,’ a dedicated community for artists in southern France.

Seeking a departure from the exhausting art scene in Paris, Van Gogh moved to Provence to find new inspiration in the region's unique light and intense colors. He was particularly drawn to the vibrant yellows of the southern sun, wheat fields, and architecture, which heavily influenced his work and his perception of the landscape.
