Vincenzo Agnetti centenary exhibition opens in Polignano a Mare

The year 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Italian conceptual artist Vincenzo Agnetti (1926‑1981). The Fondazione Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare is presenting a retrospective that surveys the decisive period of his career from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. The show highlights the 1973 solo exhibition at the Pinacoteca Provinciale di Bari, when Agnetti won the third edition of the Premio Pino Pascali.

Curated by Gaspare Luigi Marcone in collaboration with the Archivio Vincenzo Agnetti, now directed by his daughter Germana, the exhibition – part of the “Confluenze” project – displays sixteen seminal works. It emphasizes Agnetti’s investigation of the relationship between word and image, his critique of cultural and political systems, and his signature installations such as the 1973 “Progetto per un Amleto politico”.
