VINCI Airports announces £500m investment for Edinburgh Airport

VINCI Airports and co-shareholder Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) have announced a £500 million investment program to modernize and expand Edinburgh Airport. Spanning the next five years, this represents the largest investment in the airport’s history.

The project aims to increase terminal capacity by 60% to accommodate rising passenger numbers, which reached nearly 17 million in 2025. Key infrastructure improvements include new boarding gates, additional aircraft stands, an expanded check-in hall, and larger departure lounges to improve passenger flow. The plan also covers the modernization of international arrivals, baggage processing areas, and an expanded selection of retail and dining services.

Scottish First Minister John Swinney attended the launch, noting that the investment will strengthen the airport’s competitiveness as an international hub. This development is intended to support new flight routes to Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.
