Vinci raises $250 million to expand AI-native hardware simulation platform

Palo Alto-based software startup Vinci has raised $250 million in a Series B funding round, bringing the company to a $1.5 billion valuation. The funding round was led by Advent, Temasek, and Xora Innovation, with participation from AMD Ventures, Madrona, Eclipse, and Khosla Ventures.

Vinci is developing an AI-native computational platform designed to assist hardware engineers in simulating the physical behavior of complex products during the design phase. The company’s technology, which utilizes a foundation model for physics, allows for high-fidelity, deterministic analysis of thermal, thermo-mechanical, and convective fluid behavior. This is particularly critical for semiconductor engineering, where AI chips generate significant heat.

The platform is capable of analyzing manufacturing-scale designs with billions of degrees of freedom in minutes. Vinci intends to use the new capital to scale operations, increase its headcount, and expand its simulation capabilities beyond semiconductors to include areas such as vibration testing, electromagnetics, and applications in vehicles, aircraft, and satellites.
