Vinícius Júnior conspiracy theory claims player was replaced by lookalike

Vinícius Júnior conspiracy theory Real Madrid Brazil national team social media rumors

A bizarre conspiracy theory has gained traction on social media, particularly in Brazil, claiming that Real Madrid and Brazil national team star Vinícius Júnior has been replaced by a lookalike. Proponents of the theory suggest the player disappeared under mysterious circumstances following the 2026 World Cup and was substituted by a double to ensure the fulfillment of his advertising contracts.

Those spreading the rumors on platforms like TikTok and X point to alleged physical changes as evidence, including variations in facial features and the absence of specific tattoos on his thigh that were visible during previous matches. Some extreme versions of the theory involve claims of involvement by the CIA, the Rothschild family, or even extraterrestrial abductions, often citing unverified claims from psychics.

Amidst these rumors, Vinícius Júnior has publicly addressed his recent struggles, noting a need for increased self-confidence following a difficult World Cup. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has expressed his full support and patience, emphasizing that the player remains a key figure for the national team. Real Madrid and the player's representatives have not officially responded to the online rumors, treating them as baseless misinformation.
