Vinícius Júnior suspended for four matches, missing El Clásico

Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior has received a four-match suspension from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) following an incident during a La Liga match against Villarreal. The disciplinary committee split the ban into two parts: two matches for violent conduct involving pulling the hair of Villarreal defender Nathan Saliba, and two additional matches for aggressive protests directed at the officiating crew following his red card.

The suspension will force Vinícius to miss key upcoming fixtures, most notably the Clásico against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. He will also be unavailable for matches against Sevilla, Racing Santander, and Valencia. The ban applies strictly to La Liga competitions and does not extend to UEFA Champions League matches.

Real Madrid management and manager José Mourinho have expressed frustration regarding the timing of the announcement, which reportedly occurred shortly before a Champions League fixture against Roma. Vinícius himself criticized the timing and the clarity of the rules, stating, “I don’t understand the referees,” and noting that he was only informed of the decision upon arriving at the stadium.
