Vinegar and baking soda remain staples for household cleaning

Traditional cleaning methods involving vinegar and baking soda remain effective for household maintenance, though experts suggest they may not be sufficient for deep restoration of textiles.

Vinegar serves as a versatile, eco-friendly tool for cutting through grease, clearing soap scum, and descaling appliances like coffee makers. Baking soda acts as a mild abrasive for scrubbing surfaces without scratching and is effective at neutralizing odors in refrigerators and carpets.

Regarding laundry, while the combination of vinegar and baking soda helps dissolve detergent residues and manage odors, it may not fully restore the brightness of white sheets. Over time, fibers can become clogged with detergent, fabric softener, sweat, and sebum, leading to a grayish or yellowish appearance. To achieve a more intense whitening effect, specialists recommend incorporating an active-oxygen-based agent, such as sodium percarbonate, alongside traditional methods.
