Vinegar sees rising popularity in culinary and household uses

Vinegar is experiencing a resurgence in both culinary applications and household maintenance. In the food industry, chefs are increasingly using acidity to balance the richness of heavy holiday dishes. Whole Foods Market’s Trends Council has identified vinegar as a top food trend for 2026, noting a growing consumer interest in high-quality, small-batch, and fruit-infused varieties. The global vinegar market is projected to grow by more than 15% by 2031, with estimates suggesting it could reach $8.95 billion by that year.

Beyond the kitchen, homeowners are utilizing vinegar as a cost-effective household remedy. Some individuals are using a mixture of white vinegar and water to discourage spiders from settling on patios, porches, and outdoor furniture. While scientific evidence regarding its effectiveness as a reliable spider repellent is limited, the practice remains a popular inexpensive alternative to commercial pest control products.
