Vinegar steam quickly loosens grease on pot lids

A simple kitchen hack uses boiling water mixed with white vinegar to generate steam that softens and releases hardened grease on glass or metal pot lids. The method calls for placing the greasy lid upside‑down over a pot of rapidly boiling water with about half a cup of vinegar, allowing the vapor to act for a few minutes before wiping the surface with a soft sponge.

For coffee‑pot stains, a solution of hot water and two tablespoons of baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) can be poured into the vessel, left to sit for several hours or overnight, then scrubbed gently and rinsed. The alkaline action of bicarbonate helps lift dark pigment deposits without scratching glass, stainless steel, or aluminum interiors.
