VinFast - Trong Dong Stadium construction accelerates in Vietnam
Construction is accelerating at the VinFast - Trong Dong Stadium site in Vietnam, where approximately 20,000 workers are operating across three shifts to meet ambitious deadlines. The project, which features a golden dome design inspired by the Vietnamese bronze drum, is being engineered to become the world’s largest stadium by seating capacity, with a projected capacity of up to 135,000 seats.
If completed on schedule, the venue will surpass North Korea’s Rungrado 1st of May Stadium and India’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Current works include the construction of grandstand floors, functional rooms, and the assembly of a massive steel structure. The total weight of the roof's steel structure is expected to be approximately 66,000 tons.
Project management aims to complete the rough construction by December 2026, with all construction items finished by May 2027. The stadium is targeted for an official opening in July 2027, ahead of its original August 2028 timeline.
