Vingroup and Alstom partner to supply 200 metro trains to Vietnam
Vingroup and the French railway group Alstom have entered into an agreement to develop rail transport in Hanoi, Vietnam. The partnership involves the delivery of up to 200 five-car metro trains to support the capital city's urban railway projects.
Under the terms of the deal, Alstom will design and produce 83 Metropolis trains at its facility in Valenciennes Petite-Forêt. Additionally, the agreement includes a technology transfer that will allow Vingroup to assemble 117 more trains locally in Vietnam using components supplied by Alstom.
This collaboration aims to support Hanoi's long-term urban planning, which envisions a 979-kilometer rail network consisting of 18 lines by 2045. The project is intended to reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution while enhancing the city's public transport infrastructure.
