Vingroup Secures Canadian Court Decision to Press Defamation Lawsuit
The Supreme Court of British Columbia rejected an anti‑SLAPP application filed by Phương Ngô, allowing Vingroup to continue its defamation proceedings against her. Justice Milman held that Vingroup’s claim has substantial legal basis, that the defendant offered no viable defence and that the alleged damages to Vingroup’s reputation outweigh any public‑interest justification.
The case is part of a broader action launched by Vingroup and its founder Phạm Nhật Vượng in September 2025, which targets 68 individuals and organisations worldwide for allegedly spreading false information about the conglomerate. The lawsuit is being heard in Canada because the defendants reside there, with earlier related actions reported in Germany.
