Vinh Hung urban planning aims to revitalize 447 hectares in Hanoi
A new urban redevelopment plan for the Vinh Hung ward in Hanoi aims to transform approximately 447 hectares of land. The proposed 1/500 scale detailed planning project is divided into two main components: 206.1 hectares designated for reconstruction and 240.9 hectares for renovation and beautification.
Currently, the area faces significant infrastructure challenges despite its proximity to Hoan Kiem Lake. Local officials report that much of the 67km road network consists of narrow paths under 3 meters wide, leading to traffic congestion and hindering emergency vehicle access. Other issues include localized flooding due to inadequate drainage and a lack of green spaces and community facilities.
The plan seeks to improve social infrastructure, with projections suggesting an increase in social infrastructure area from approximately 23.88 hectares to 83.68 hectares. Experts emphasize the need to balance modern urban connectivity with the preservation of the area's traditional village character.
