Vinh Long authorities investigate water spout from borehole
Authorities in Vinh Long province, Vietnam, are investigating an unusual phenomenon where a residential borehole in Hoa Binh commune suddenly erupted, creating a water column approximately 15 meters high. The incident occurred around 9:45 AM on October 19 near Hiep Thanh hamlet.
The water spout lasted for about two hours before stopping on its own. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment, specifically the Sub-Department of Natural Resources and Minerals, has conducted an initial site inspection. While the immediate eruption has ceased, the exact cause remains undetermined.
Local officials and specialized agencies are working to analyze geological, hydrological, and groundwater pressure factors to assess potential risks to the environment, local infrastructure, and groundwater quality. Residents have been advised not to tamper with the borehole and to report any further unusual activity to local authorities immediately.
