Vinh Long court schedules trial for fatal truck accident

The People's Court of Area 4 in Vinh Long has scheduled a new public trial for September 17 at 7:30 AM regarding a fatal traffic accident involving truck driver Nguyen Van Bao Trung.

On September 4, 2024, in Tra On district, Trung was driving a truck on Provincial Road 901. According to the indictment, while attempting to overtake a pickup truck, the truck veered into the left lane, resulting in a collision that killed 14-year-old Nguyen Ngoc Bao Tran, who was riding an electric bicycle.

Trung has been prosecuted for “violating regulations on participating in road traffic.” A previous trial attempt on August 28 was postponed because the victim's family and their legal representatives were absent. For the upcoming trial, the victim's family has reduced their number of registered lawyers from 12 to 8, while the defendant will be represented by one lawyer.
