Vinh Long focuses on digital transformation and high-quality human resources
Vinh Long province is focusing on enhancing human resource quality and digital transformation to drive regional economic competitiveness. Cuu Long University has reported significant progress in digital infrastructure, with 100% of its units connected via high-speed fiber optics and the implementation of seven management software systems. The university is investing over 6.3 billion VND in digital infrastructure by 2026 and allocates more than 4 billion VND annually to scientific research.
To support emerging industries, Cuu Long University has introduced new majors in Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy. The institution aims to increase its international publication rate by 5-10% annually and focus on training high-quality personnel in semiconductor industry, microchip design, and biotechnology.
Provincial leaders, including Chairman Tran Tri Quang, emphasized that while infrastructure serves as the economy's 'hardware,' high-quality human resources act as the 'software' essential for long-term value. Currently, while over 74% of the province's workforce has undergone training, only 38.9% hold official degrees or certificates. Local authorities are working to address the shortage of experts in AI, automation, and high-tech agriculture to prevent brain drain to larger economic centers.
