Vinh Long implements measures to combat river and coastal erosion

Vinh Long province is actively implementing measures to combat accelerating river and coastal erosion. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has noted that erosion is occurring at an increasing pace in several critical locations, including Long Tri islet, Long Duc ward, and various coastal communes.

Local authorities are mobilizing resources to invest in embankment projects to protect lives and property. In response to recent heavy rains and high tides, dike breaches in some areas have caused flooding across approximately 30 hectares of sugarcane, fruit trees, and aquaculture ponds. To mitigate further damage, the province has allocated 5.9 billion VND for a soft embankment project and stone reinforcement to protect agricultural land and livelihoods.
