Vinh Long man detained for assaulting stranger while intoxicated

Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, a resident of Tan Hanh Ward, Vinh Long, has been placed under three-month detention following an assault on a stranger.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on the evening of August 17 when the victim, Mr. N. A. L., was riding his motorcycle on Nguyen Hue Street. Thuan approached the victim from behind, knocked him off his motorcycle, and proceeded to attack him with a weapon. The victim required hospitalization for his injuries.

During questioning, Thuan admitted to the assault, stating that he was intoxicated at the time. He claimed he mistakenly believed the victim was following him with intent to harm him. Medical assessments determined the victim sustained a 15% injury rate. Thuan is currently being investigated for “intentional injury.”
