Vini Oliveira corruption probe concludes evidence phase in Campinas
A parliamentary commission in Campinas has concluded the evidence-gathering phase of an investigation into Councilman Vini Oliveira. The inquiry is examining allegations of corruption, administrative impropriety, and breach of parliamentary decorum.
The commission recently ruled certain audiovisual evidence inadmissible, including recordings that allegedly show Oliveira meeting with executives from Smile Transportes, a company linked to a public transport consortium. The recordings reportedly captured discussions regarding potential payments. While the complainant, Mariana Conti, has contested the exclusion of this material, the defense maintains that Oliveira was acting within his legal duties of oversight.
The next steps include a five-day period for the defense to present final arguments. Following this, a rapporteur will issue a recommendation that could lead to either the dismissal of the case or the revocation of Oliveira's mandate.
