Vinicio Capossela debuts new ballad opera in Italian tour
Musician Vinicio Capossela and Pierpaolo Capovilla are debuting a new ballad opera titled ‘E Morte non avrà dominio’. The production marks Capossela’s first foray into this genre, where music, spoken word, and stage presence integrate to form a cohesive dramaturgy rather than acting as mere accompaniment.
The show is inspired by the poem ‘Under Milk Wood’ by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and builds upon the work previously developed in the radio drama ‘Sotto il bosco di latte’. The production is dedicated to the memory of the late radio DJ Renato Striglia, who had worked on an unfinished Italian version of Thomas’s poem.
The theatrical tour begins on October 3 and 4 at the Teatro Olimpico in Rome as part of the Romaeuropa Festival, continuing through Italy until December 21 at the Teatro Verdi in Florence. The performance will feature fifteen new songs that are set to be included in Capossela’s next studio album, scheduled for release in January 2027.
