Brazilian forward Vinícius Júnior told a pre‑match press conference that he is not in the 2026 World Cup to be the tournament’s best player but to help Brazil lift the trophy and "change the history" of the Seleção. He highlighted his physical and technical condition after an injury‑free season with Real Madrid and said the confidence of coach Carlo Ancelotti improves his chances of success. Vinícius also praised Morocco’s recent progress and noted the importance of players such as Brahim Zahiri and Achraf Hakimi.

He added that he hopes Neymar recovers soon from a hamstring injury and will be available for the competition. Regarding his club future, Vinícius said his Real Madrid contract runs until 2027 and that any renewal discussion will wait until after the World Cup, though the club has reportedly made a new offer.

These remarks were made at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey ahead of Brazil’s Group C opener against Morocco.
