Vinko Grgić resigns again, prompting third early election in Nova Gradiška
The Croatian government announced snap elections for mayor and deputy mayor of the town of Nova Gradiška, to be held on 6 September. The vote follows a second resignation by incumbent mayor Vinko Grgić, who stepped down in June after the anti‑corruption office (Uskok) requested his placement in investigative detention.
Grgić had previously resigned in March after being arrested on suspicion of multiple corruption offences, but won the ensuing early election and resumed office. His latest resignation triggers the third set of early elections in the town within 15 months. At the same government session, ministers extended the material and immaterial rights of civil servants under the expired collective agreement and introduced revised fees for the legalization of illegally built structures.
