Vinkovci Deputy Mayor disputes administration reorganization

Katarina Vučić, the deputy mayor of Vinkovci, has issued a public response following Mayor Josip Romić’s announcement regarding the reorganization of the city administration. The dispute follows Vučić’s recent departure from the HDZ party, citing pressure and malpractice.

Mayor Romić announced plans for a ‘smaller, more efficient, modern, and transparent’ administration, which includes reducing the number of employees and relocating various offices. As part of this move, Vučić’s office is being relocated to a different building. Vučić has characterized this relocation as ‘revenge’ and expressed concerns that the reorganization may serve as a cover for political staffing or settling scores with those who do not belong to the mayor’s political circle.

Vučić has called for transparency regarding the criteria used to determine which employees will be retained or dismissed. She also questioned the necessity of staff reductions given the city's current size and raised concerns about whether the city will fulfill its legal obligations regarding the employment of persons with disabilities.
