Vinkovci forms new commission to assess drought damage

The Vinkovci City Council has formed a new City Commission for the Assessment of Damage from Natural Disasters during an extraordinary session. Mag. ing. agr. Darijan Raguž has been appointed to lead the commission.

The formation of this new body follows the resignation of previous president Sanja Čuljak after a meeting on August 21 failed to reach a quorum. The new commission is tasked with addressing the consequences of this year’s drought, which has caused significant damage to agricultural crops in the Vinkovci area.

Authorities are currently collecting data from farmers and conducting field inspections to prepare a formal request to declare a natural disaster. The request covers damages to crops including soy, corn, sunflower, sugar beet, clover, alfalfa, hazelnut, apples, and flowers. Once documentation is complete, it will be submitted to the County Commission for assessment.
