Vinnie Jones questions King Charles III's accession to the throne

Actor and former professional footballer Vinnie Jones has expressed reservations regarding King Charles III's ascension to the British throne. Speaking on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Jones stated that Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, should have succeeded Queen Elizabeth II.

Jones, who describes himself as a staunch royalist and traditionalist, argued that the royal family should have adhered to historical rules regarding divorce. He suggested that the rules were changed to accommodate Charles and Queen Camilla, noting that the relaxation of these rules in 2002 allowed the couple to marry despite their previous divorces. Jones remarked that the monarchy “moved the goalposts” by altering these traditions, leading him to become a supporter of William and Kate instead.
