Vinschool workshop promotes digital wellness for children
More than 1,000 parents in Ho Chi Minh City attended the Learning Lens 02 workshop hosted by Vinschool, featuring Australian psychologist and digital wellness expert Jocelyn Brewer.
The workshops focused on the impact of screens, algorithms, and AI on children. Brewer emphasized that for young children, parents should prioritize building healthy technology habits rather than merely imposing time limits. She noted that while digital content labeled as “educational” might encourage mimicry or rote memorization, true language development requires two-way interaction between children and adults in real-world contexts.
As children grow, the parental objective should shift from strictly managing devices to helping children develop the ability to self-regulate their attention, behavior, and technological choices. The discussions highlighted that the value of digital content is determined not just by what is on the screen, but by how it affects essential activities like sleep, physical movement, play, and social interaction.
