Vintage car rally raises $9,000 for Waikato Cancer Society
The Waikato branch of the New Zealand Vintage Car Club hosted its seventh annual Daffodil Day Rally for Cancer, raising approximately $9,000 for the Waikato Cancer Society. Despite gusty winds and threatening skies, the event drew a large crowd of enthusiasts and spectators to the club’s grounds in Cambridge.
Around 280 vehicles participated in the rally, including cars, light commercials, and motorbikes dating from the early 1900s to the mid-1990s. Participants traveled from various locations including Matamata, Morrinsville, Te Awamutu, Hamilton, and Cambridge. The funds raised represent an increase of roughly $1,000 compared to the previous year.
In addition to vehicle entry donations, the event featured raffles and competitions sponsored by local businesses. Volunteers and local organizations, such as the local Badminton club, assisted with event logistics and parking.
