Vinyl resurgence in Latin America: Chile's Día del Vinilo, Trujillo fair
Chile's Día del Vinilo marked its fifth edition on 15 August at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral, showcasing the return of locally pressed 7‑inch singles produced by Selknam Record Pressing. The event featured around 20 releases, appearances by artists such as Simón Campusano and Los Bunkers, and participation from major labels Sony Music and Universal Music alongside independent labels and the country's largest distributor, Punto Musical. Panels addressed national vinyl manufacturing and the broader health of Chile's music industry.
In Trujillo, Peru, the Feria del Disco de Vinilo held its 28th edition, drawing collectors and younger listeners eager for the tactile listening experience. Organized by Pepo Rodríguez and supported by Vinilo Vive manager Telmo Zavala, the fair offered a wide range of titles at accessible prices and highlighted the continued growth of vinyl interest despite the dominance of digital platforms.
