The San Diego International Film Festival has announced that Academy Award-winning actress Viola Davis will receive the Gregory Peck Award for Cinematic Excellence. The honor recognizes her extensive contributions as an artist, activist, producer, and philanthropist.

Cecilia Peck will present the award during the Night of the Stars Tribute on October 13, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of the festival. The event will take place at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla. Tonya Mantooth, the festival's CEO and Artistic Director, described Davis as “one of the most extraordinary artists of our time,” noting that her work embodies the legacy of the award.

Davis, an EGOT winner, has been recognized for her profound impact on cinema and her efforts to create opportunities for others through her work beyond the screen.
