Viola Wedekind departs ‘Unter uns’ after dramatic character exit

Actress Viola Wedekind has departed the RTL daily soap opera ‘Unter uns’ after playing the character Dana Gülek for approximately ten months. The character’s exit occurred on October 1, 2026, following a dramatic storyline involving criminal suspicions and imprisonment.

In the series, Dana Gülek was arrested following the death of Nuray. To escape custody, the character feigned a medical emergency to be transferred to a hospital, where she subsequently used a sedative to incapacitate a guard and successfully fled. While the character has not died, she remains a fugitive, leaving the possibility of a future return open for the writers.

In interviews, Wedekind expressed that while she initially desired a different conclusion for her character, she eventually understood the dramatic necessity of the storyline. She described her time filming the series in Cologne as a professional passion.
